Metal matrix composites

Whether steel or cast iron, traditional methods of enhancing their wear resistance have become increasingly challenging. On one hand, further adding alloying elements leads to a sharp increase in costs. On the other hand, high-entropy alloys face difficulties in preparation processes and the challenge of machining precise shapes due to their high hardness. To address this issue, composite materials with metal matrix and high-hardness hard alloys/ceramics as the reinforcing phase have been developed to meet the growing demand for performance. Iron-based composite materials, like pearls on the crown of wear resistance, are an important area of development pursued by both academia and industry. Meanwhile, GESION is committed to seeking alternatives to WC-Co-based hard alloys and promoting the application of non-WC-Co-based hard alloy composite materials to reduce the use of scarce resources such as tungsten and cobalt, thus promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable development.
